Important Unemployment Information

Any employee with reduced hours, not getting scheduled for shifts,  or not receiving pay is encouraged to file for unemployment ASAP (this week if possible).

The closure of all bars and restaurants (except for takeout) by the Municipality of Anchorage has created a lot of uncertainty for staff in regards to employment status and scheduled hours. After speaking with the Unemployment Office, they recommend that filing for unemployment is the best way to protect yourself as we navigate these uncharted waters over the next fews weeks/months.  There are no drawbacks for applying! The sooner you apply the better. Your goal should be to apply this week if possible. Remember, even if your hours are reduced, you may still qualify for unemployment benefits. We will continue to work as hard as possible as a company to keep as many people working as possible; however, we want to ensure you are set up for unemployment to provide that protection if needed.

Here is what you need to do to apply for unemployment:

  • PREFERRED METHOD: Call the Unemployment Claim Center at (907) 269-4700 – you can call Monday through Friday from 10am – 3pm.  You may experience a long cue. Wait on hold until you can enter your phone number to have them call you back.  They will call you back in the order the call came in. This is the most simple and least confusing way to apply.  You will tell them, ‘I want to open an unemployment claim’ and they will take it from there. The only information you will need to have on hand is your social security number. They treat everyone on a case by case basis and will go through all the necessary details with you to open your claim and answer any questions you have.

  • BACKUP METHOD:   File online at: https://my.alaska.gov/NewAccount.aspx You can file a claim online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.  It can be confusing to go online and apply, which is why we recommend calling; however, this is still a viable option for those that prefer this method.

If you have any questions or need assistance, don’t hesitate to reach out to the Administrative office at 907-222-1560.
